Statement on Nigerian Abduction of Girls

In line with our  “Restoring Dignity” campaign to end violence against women,

we, members of Religions for Peace in Europe, European Council of Religious Leaders, European Women of Faith Network, European Interfaith Youth Network and National bodies,

are horrified at the recent publicized abduction of girls inNigeria.

We are aware that these were not the first; it is a constant threat, which we condemn.

We also condemn the abductions that take place in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

We reject all the different forms of violence against women on the grounds of religions.

We call upon all Muslim Leaders as well as all Religious Leaders at the local, national and international level

to publicly denounce such practices on moral and religious grounds.
