A seminar called “Strengthening Youth Action for Peace: Creative Multicultural and Multi-faith Approaches and Toms” took place inBrusselsfrom the 27 of October to the 2 of November 2017.

It involved youth from seven partner’s organizations in:Sweden,Belgium,Bosnia and Herzegovina,Romania, The Netherlands andSerbia.

Participants were 40 youth from 18 to 25 years ‘old, including, fromBelgiumrefugees’ and youth from the “Foyer des Jeunes des Marolles”, plus 10 facilitators. The participants were youth leaders, or potential leaders, who can have an impact on other youth in their own communities.

The seminar was part of a Youth Exchange supported by Erasmus+. The main objective was to strengthen youth action for peace in

Europe providing them with interfaith and multicultural competences and skills for preventing radicalisation and eliminating xenophobia and intolerance.

Main activities included 7 training workshops, cultural visits and a Panel on “Youth Contribution to an Inclusive Europe” that took place at the BrelCenterwith the participation of religious leaders. The Programme also included sessions on Erasmus+ and the Security Council Resolution 2255 for encouraging young people to take practical steps in the process of youth inclusion and participation.

The project methodology included the use of interfaith and inter-cultural learning methodologies promoting participation, personal and collective reflection, creativity and cooperation. Participants engaged in deep exchange of good practices with other youth, including migrant’s youth, for mutual learning and recognition.

As a result the youth learned about other religions and cultures as well as gender. They also discussed issues that generate tensions in their own communities like homosexuality. They affirmed the need for mutual respect and understanding.

After the sessions about “PartnershipBuildingand Funding Opportunities” the youth got more ideas about fundraising and a more developed capacity to develop campaigns and youth activities.
